General Music (7th Grade)

In our Music in Film course, seventh graders explore how music shapes the emotional and narrative impact of visual media. Students analyze iconic film scores and soundtracks from different genres and eras to understand how composers use melody, harmony, rhythm, and orchestration to support storytelling. Through guided listening and discussion, they learn to identify leitmotifs, themes, and compositional techniques that enhance character development and dramatic tension. Students also experiment with creating their own short film music projects using digital tools, developing basic skills in composition and synchronization. By the end of the course, students gain a deeper appreciation for the role of music in film and acquire foundational skills to express their own musical ideas in multimedia contexts.
