Advancement to Candidacy (ATC)
Prior to the end of Winter Quarter, second-year MPP students are tasked to complete and submit their Advancement to Candidacy (ATC) forms to ensure that they have met all degree requirements. These forms are important because once approved, students will be granted their diploma. Without ATC approval from the registrar's office, students will not receive their diploma. Students must submit the following:

Degree Check
To ensure that all degree requirements have been met, students must make sure that they do not have any incompletes in their academic transcript. Classes that have incompletes and/or anything below a C will not count for degree units. This means that students will have less than 80 units, and thus, the registrar's office will not approve their ATC. The registrar's office will approve ATC forms once ALL 80 units have been accounted. It is important to note that students can submit ATC forms after the March deadline. HOWEVER, this will cause a delay in receiving a diploma AND if ATC forms are submitted past Spring Quarter, fees will be applied.
Concurrent Degree Students:
Given that concurrent degree students must complete 68 units, in order to reach 80 units, concurrent degree students will have to submit a graduate petition form to count 12-units of their other major courses into the MPP degree. The Director of Student Affairs will reach out to concurrent degree students to provide instructions regarding the graduate degree petition form.
***ATC forms will be due on Friday during the second week of Spring Quarter***
ATC Sample Form
Completing the ATC form is quite simple. A sample is provided below for students to follow step-by-step. Please use these samples as guide on how to complete your ATC form. Additionally, concurrent degree students will also complete the ATC form as seen in the sample. Another ATC form will be submitted with the other Department for that respective degree.
