Course Description
Project 1
In this project I analyzed my own rhetoric. I had to write about how my own appearance came off to everyone, and created my personal rhetoric. When writing I had to keep in mind what my outward appearnce came off to the public. I had pictures to show what type of appearance I was referring to, and I had a screenshot from my personal instagram showing what I post and why. This project opens the writers eyes to dig deeper into themselves about what people think, and how you come off to society.
Project 2
In this project I had to analyze the rhetorical techniques of a news commercial. I had to create my own podcast based off the news aritcle I chose. I wrote a script that the audience could go by while listening to the podcast. The podcast should be describing the rhetorical techniques, and should aslo include ethos, logos, and pathos. I had to completely analyze the CNN news clip and also site it as well.
Project 3
Project three was a very fun, and eye opening project. My group and I did a service learning project that debuted The Well. We decided to do an informational video describing The Well, and its mission. We also wrote a paper describing the purpose and some visuals of the facility. In our video we incorporated real peoples stories, and real people that have benefited from the well. During this project we had to work as a group to seamlessly provide a video that describes the importance of this facility and its passion for helping those who are experiencing homelessness.
Project 4
Project four piggy backs off of project three. For this one my group and I had to make an informational powerpoint/ symposium. On this symposium we had to include pictures, and information from our service learning project. The poster needed to look well put together, creative, and eye catching. We wanted ours to stand out so that we could share our topic with a bigger audience.
Project 5
This project as a class we had read an article from "Two Ways a Woman Can Get Hurt Advertising and Violence." by Jean Kilbourne, and watched a movie named "Killing Us Softly". In this project I had to find my own commercial/ music video to analyze. I had to use evidence from this video and explain how Kilbournes articles relate. I had to break down the video and explain the sexual innuendos, the advertising itself, the biased or racial issues it displays, and any other problems the video might have. I also had to site and use evidence from the article as well.
