18 Jan - AB/SK Regional Rep (Shawn Dunnett) Explores New Southern Route

18 Jan, 2020 - Alberta/Saskatchewan Regional Rep (Shawn Dunnett) Announces Plans to Explore new Southern Route

Shawn Dunnett Hi Dale, like the idea of a Regional Ride, but if it was like a rolling birrage from west to east so that if someone wanted to follow the rides west to east they could..just a thought

  • Bob Edwards That (rolling relay) was the original intent in 2009, but it is difficult to find anyone willing to ride Kenora On to Ottawa legs... and QC is difficult unless everything is bi-lingual (including the website|). additionally, the ride form NS to NL is more than$500 for ferry ride return....you up for that? Believe me....we have tried everything in the past 11 years!

Shawn Dunnett Bob Edwards all I am suggesting is BC does their relay say June 4,5,6&7..AB does 8,9 and 10 and so on and so forth..that way if people WANT to ride cross country they can

Bob Edwards Shawn Dunnett sounds good...show us your plan!

Shawn Dunnett Bob Edwards LoL..I have stepped up and offered to lead the AB leg planning..

Lamont French Shawn Dunnett, forgive me but why change the dates to June? The ride has been set up for a day by day ride West to East for the past 11 years starting the end of July and ending in NL the end of Aug. How is this different from what you have stated ex…See More

Lamont French Shawn Dunnett , there was an idea put forth by myself but unfortunately never actioned. In BC the mainland portion is a loop because riders have go get home. This is highly successful. I suggested years ago a simpler set up in AB. For example, the …See More

Shawn Dunnett Lamont French interesting route..but getting support out of Calgary might be an issue due to the extremely small size of the ASU. Otherwise I like the idea..

Lamont French Fell free to change it up. The BC Loops outside of Victoria is the only Base. Everything else is done with hotels and for the most part sponsorship from the local RCL. Hotels are used when no DND facilities are available and when there are armories we use them, or even university/college campuses. Outside the box thinking will open up so many possibilities for you and your team.

Alex Millham Loops are certainly do able participation and planning in these areas is needed. On the east coast I am in the early stages of planning a maritime loop that will meet up with a team from ontario/Quebec in either edmundston or valcartier this way we can have some ride days concurrent and independant of national rider while also supporting any national riders when they come through
