MMAC WoJoRo rules for 2025 - Hi-Start glider
Club will supply two launch systems: One system with 25' of 1/8" Tan SS plus 100' of typical towline. There will be a 11/16" outside diameter, 1/2" inside diameter steel or brass closed ring on the end of towline with a pennant flag attached to the towline about 12" from ring. Second system to be the same except for 25' of 3/16" Tan SS rubber. Club will supply auto rudder/auto timer start pull pins of 0.025", 0.032", 0.039" and 0.046" diameter music wire approximately 1.75" long. They will be on 6-8" of towline that can easily be attached/detached from tow ring. If you need a different sort of pin, bring it yourself attached to a sturdy, highly visible string that is easily attachable and detachable from the described tow ring.
Club will supply tool box near launch point that contains typical tools and accessories needed for glider flying and event scoreboard to save many trips back to car.
1. No limitations on glider size or weight any burning fuse D/T should comply with AMA rules to be properly anchored to plane and extinguished via snuffer tube or metal/fireproof band. For your own sake, it should have your own name, address, phone, email address, AMA numbers on it.
2. You must enter and pay your first $5 entry fee before you see anyone else's scores. Text me/email me your intent to participate the night before or enroute to be safe. This event will have a separate cash-only pot to be located near the hi-start anchor point - do not combine with contest entry fee.
3. A contest set/string of flights is complete a.) with less than three flights, whenever contestant declares it is done and might want to start over. b.) three flights are completed, with at least one non-max flight. c.) after making the first three maxes, a max is missed on subsequent flights. Assuming good weather, maxes will be 120 seconds for all flights at the June contest. We may adjust for July and beyond.
4. reentry for $5 to start a new set/string of flights. For the June contest the contestant's final score will be the best set of flights from their original set of flights and all re-entries.
5. line tangles on ground or in air with another flyer or launch system, or gliding collision with another model can be declared a "re-do" by the flier immediately. Or, if a launch is attained, the contestant can choose immediately to count the flight - say within 10 seconds of launch.
6. any part falling off of a model before max time is attained is a zero. Better re-enter! 7. scoreboard will be on a clipboard near hi-start anchor point.
8. Timers: Self-timing is allowed and encouraged to reduce burden on fellow competitors and timers helping time other contest events. Uniquely, you will have hands free when it is time to start the clock in this event!
9. A horn/bull horn will be sounded when a new flight set/string surpasses the previous high score of the day - to let everyone know they'd better renter.
10. Hi-Start contest will run 8:00 to 4:00 as regular contest. Extension to contest end time may be made for time lost to bad weather or a late start. Will be announced as soon as possible and marked on scoresheet.
11. Test flights will be allowed on contest launch systems only when no official flight is imminent. Ideally, in the future, test flights would be done well removed from official flight area with flyers own launch system. So, observers would know all flights made from club's launch system were official and not question the self-timing allowance.
plenty more gliders available for those short on time/energy to build your own. Shoot me a text (506- 321-1811) or email (awringlien@hotmail.com)
