In March 2024, I began my tenure as a Prof. Meghnad Saha Post Doctoral Fellow at IIT Jodhpur. My academic journey includes earning a Ph.D. in Microbiology from Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan, Himachal Pradesh. My doctoral research focused on developing bacterial bioformulations to enhance the growth of the critically endangered medicinal plant Trillium govaninaum and apple trees within an intercropping framework. Currently, at IIT Jodhpur, I'm delving into bioprospecting bioactive compounds from the biocrusts of the Thar Desert and profiling their microbiome. Beyond academia, I am passionate traveller and keen observer, I find joy in unravelling the mysteries of new landscapes, while my love for poetry infuses my experiences with an extra layer of depth and beauty
I joined the department of BSBE, IIT Jodhpur in July 2019 to pursue my Ph.D. Degree. I have successfully completed M.Sc. in Biotechnology from Amity University, Noida and graduated in Biomedical Sciences from BCAS, University of Delhi. During my graduation, the area of Microbial genomics had fascinated me a lot, which helped me decide to further explore the topic. My research work focuses on expanding our understanding of the regulation of iron homeostasis in the nosocomial pathogen, Klebsiella pneumoniae. Apart from research, I like to read fiction and play badminton.Â
After pursuing M.Tech. from the department of BSBE, IIT Jodhpur, I have now rejoined the lab as a Ph.D. student. I had received my B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree in Physiology from North Bengal University & Vidyasagar University, respectively. My Ph.D. project work focus on the regulation of hypermucoviscosity, a key virulence factor in Klebsiella pneumoniae.
I am Shivanshi Madeshiya, an MSc graduate in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from Tezpur University, Assam, supported by a DBT fellowship through GAT-B. I joined Department of Bioscience & Bioengineering, IIT Jodhpur as Junior Research Fellow in the CARISMMA Sustainable Food System study, focusing on ChAracterizing, RevIving, Supporting, Monitoring and MAnaging Sustainable Food Systems to address malnutrition in indigenous tribal communities of India.
