Mechanical Pencil Terms:
Knock: A knock is the button you press to dispense or let go of lead. This can also be used as a verb, meaning to press the knock.
Lead: A thin piece made of a mixture of graphite and clay that is inserted into a mechanical pencil, and is what touches the paper with you write with the pencil. Though is it called lead, there is often no lead in the stick.
Lead Sleeve: A thin, cylindrical tube that surrounds the lead of a mechanical pencil.
