The Materials Processing and Performance Group (MP2G) conducts fundamental and applied research on the processing, characterization, and performance of advanced engineering materials. Our research integrates additive manufacturing, advanced microstructural characterization, large-scale synchrotron and neutron facilities, and multiscale modelling to establish processing–microstructure–property–performance relationships. By combining innovative manufacturing with state-of-the-art experimental techniques, we develop materials and processes for demanding applications in energy, transportation, aerospace, and beyond.
"Engineering materials are at the heart of every technological breakthrough. By understanding how processing shapes microstructure and how microstructure governs performance, we can design stronger, safer and more durable materials for the challenges of tomorrow.
At the Materials Processing and Performance Group (MP2G), we combine advanced manufacturing, state-of-the-art characterization methods and methods at synchrotron and neutron large-scale facilities to push the frontiers of materials science. Education is equally central to our mission. We are committed to providing students with the scientific knowledge, practical skills and critical thinking required to become the next generation of engineers. Through research-led teaching, case-studies and exposure to cutting-edge technologies, we aim to prepare our students to tackle the scientific and industrial challenges of the future.
Welcome to the MP2G Website! Whether you are a presnet or prospective student, researcher, collaborator or simply interested in our work, we invite you to explore our research, teaching and ongoing projects. We hope this website provides insight into our vision, activities and passion for advancing the science and engineering of materials."
