Journeying across the world to investigate the background and modern application of outdoor education seemed like a daunting task.
We carefully selected our locations to include some of the most important institutions and sites of nature and environmental education in Scandinavia, while also keeping the 10-day travel schedule manageable, affordable, and environmentally sustainable. We started out in the Swedish capital of Stockholm and its surrounding area, taking advantage of pre-existing contacts there and then work our way through Southern Sweden and Eastern Denmark via trains, buses, and boats.
