I didn't start as a kid.
I didn't start in high school.
I started in my early 20s because I had low back pain from a desk job and a sedentary lifestyle.
It started with local yoga classes. Then progressed to gym workouts with my husband at his small work gym [with no real plan except that I wanted to be able to run]. Then I moved on to taking group fitness classes at Anytime Fitness. My back pain got better and I was able to run my first 5k in 2017.
Then my mom started to notice a decrease in balance and strength leading to some falls while walking the dog. So I came up with a plan to train her. I realized how much I loved cheering her on and creating a program to allow her to live the life she wanted to live. Because of her, I got my Personal Trainer Certification in 2020 and also began schooling to become a Physical Therapist Assistant.
After graduating and becoming a licensed PTA, I primarily worked in nursing homes helping elderly people find joy in exercise and helping them to regain their independence [while training clients on the side].Â
Then one of my PT clients became pregnant. This led me to become pre/postnatal certified to keep her active while keeping her safe to allow her to continue living life the way she wanted to and to prepare her for birth and motherhood.
My goal with all of my clients is to use fitness as a tool to allow them to keep living life the way they choose by solving problems that many of us have: aches, pains, feeling older than you should, and realizing something needs to change.
Fitness gave me the ability to invest in my future, and choose how I want to live my life. Now I help others do the same.
