William J. O'Brien, PE, PhD, C. T. Wells Professor
AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow, Dept. of Energy
My research, teaching, and service seek to advance the industry with respect to novel processes in the areas of supply chain management, project controls, and resource management as well as through supporting research in information management and design of advanced decision support systems. All this work takes a systems perspective, with close attention to implementation issues. The impact of this work has been recognized with sustained funding by industry and government, with major grants from the National Science Foundation, National Institute of Standards and Technology, Construction Industry Institute, Fiatech, and the Texas Department of Transportation. As a teacher, I have received a "Gold Award" from the University of Texas' Innovative Instructional Technology Awards Program, reflecting my continuing endeavors to bring new methods and technologies to teaching.
