Christmas in Montrose at the Rosemont Inn (birthplace of the Gingerbread Inn) - First weekend in December every year.
Each year, thousands of visitors stroll through the little Christmas village on the green where faux Christmas shops line pathways.
The Rosemont Inn hosts an annual Christmas Tree Auction to benefit lonely and needy families and a bake sale by the wonderful teachers of DKG Beta Rho.
This year, after retiring from the inn last Christmas, I was invited to return as a guest author/illustrator. "The Gingerbread Inn" was conceived at the Rosemont during my time as an innkeeper there. It wasn't until I retired from innkeeping, that I finally had time to finish my illustrations,
It was wonderful to see the delight on the children's faces as they looked into the life-sized gingerbread inn to see the characters having tea and of course, gingerbread and candy.
I look forward to visiting many schools, libraries, and museums, with my "5 senses" Gingerbread Inn experience this season. Children will hear the story while seeing the characters inside the inn, and holding a little mouse while nibbling some tasty and wonderful-smelling gingerbread.
