Motus, Latin root word for Movement
Motus (mótüs) Dance Collective is a dynamic, faith-driven contemporary dance company based in Tulsa, OK, where art and ministry converge in powerful ways. We are a multicultural collective of artists united by the belief that dance is a language that speaks beyond borders, cultures, and words. Our performances, outreach programs, and collaborations—both locally and internationally—serve as a canvas for sharing testimonies and stories of hope through movement.
At Motus, we’re not just creating dances; we’re creating experiences that inspire, connect, and transform. From intimate performances to large-scale festivals, we invite audiences to see the world through a new lens—one where God's glory is reflected in every step, every leap, and every gesture.
"We are called to live in community with others, across the street and across the globe." Through our work, we aim to build bridges, break barriers, and share the beauty of God’s love in the most authentic way we know—through the art of movement.
Wherever we go... there will be a MOVEMENT...
To be the hands and feet of Jesus, bringing life, joy, and healing through movement, while fostering unity and connection within communities.
To inspire and empower communities through movement, embodying the love of Jesus to bring life, joy and healing, while cultivating unity and connection. We are driven by our authenticity and our faith.
Motus Dance Collective is Oklahoma’s first integrated contemporary dance company, where disabled and non-disabled artists create, rehearse, and perform together as one ensemble.
Our company includes dancers with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), POTS, spinal cord injuries, and hearing impairments, as well as artists who use mobility aids such as wheelchairs, canes, and crutches. These lived experiences directly shape our movement and choreographic process.
We create work through collaboration and adaptation, where accessibility is built into the creative process from the start. This allows us to expand what dance looks like, who gets to be seen on stage, and how movement is defined.
At Motus, we believe dance belongs to everyone.
"Dance is a universal language that goes beyond words. Every culture moves—whether in worship, celebration, or simply for the joy of it. It’s a way to connect our body, mind, and spirit, letting our stories be told through movement. Dance allows us to express what words can’t capture, and we’re honored to share those stories through this powerful art form."
