Our Story

Motus Dance Collective was born from a powerful experience that our Founder and Artistic Director, Elizabeth Szymanski, had while doing missionary work in Turin, Italy. One day, after serving at a local church, Elizabeth and her team were enjoying some free time and spontaneously began singing together. What started as a casual, lighthearted moment quickly turned into an authentic time of worship. As they sang, members of the congregation—many of whom didn’t speak English—joined in, creating a beautiful, unifying experience. It was in that moment that Elizabeth felt a deep sense of calling, and the vision for a multicultural dance company began to take shape.
