Teaching Philosophy Statement
Learning and teaching process is an important aspect to maintain cognitive, psychomotor and affirmative skills for both teachers and students. This process is a continuous one where you always need to get more and fulfill your knowledge with updated information and explorations.
Being in the educational field since 2008, improved my skills and so I came to find out more the effect of this non-ending process to sustain the updates in the field of education.
I have been learning about different methods of learning and teaching such as Montessori, John Diwi’s theory, social learning theory, Constructivism … And I came out to mix between these theories and get the best of what I am deeply confide with.
In Our lesson plans , methodologies, techniques and my explanation we use:
Differentiated Instructions: Tailoring and modifying teaching methods, content, and assessments to accommodate individual learning styles and needs (taking into consideration Bloom Taxonomy and the different learning styles ...)
Mastery teaching to make sure that students master the material in the lesson easily and be able to acquire a rigid foundation for learning new procedures and concepts.
Flipped learning to provide a space for our students to explore , analyses and create their skills on a given topic. Thus, they will improve their critical thinking skills and be able to freely discuss and engage. Recorded lectures and materials are provided to students before class, allowing in-person or virtual sessions to focus on discussions, problem-solving, and hands-on activities .
Inquiry Based Model which has a great impact on the students' minds and skills in all areas of learning. It encourages the students to take the ownership of their own learning and evaluate themselves. Encouraging students to ask questions, explore, and discover knowledge on their own, fostering curiosity and self-directed learning.
Bloom's Taxonomy: By classifying educational objectives into cognitive levels, ranging from lower-order thinking skills to higher-order thinking skills. Thus, we can design learning experiences that encourage critical thinking and intellectual growth at various levels of complexity.
5 Es Model, which has a great influence on students, following this modern teaching method allow our classes to have our students engaged in the process, feel free to share their ideas. The 5 phases are engage, explore, explain, extend knowledge and finally evaluate. This provides a meaning full learning experience to our students through active participation.
Hands-on activities to encourage learning through exploration and develop critical and thinking skills. here we work on psychomotor skills where senses and engaged and students are exposed to different learning styles.
Socratic Method: Encouraging critical thinking through a series of questions and answers that lead students to discover knowledge and insights. Which as a result fosters inquiry based classroom culture.
Ed tech , we integrate technology in our lesson plans and virtual/live classrooms to facilitate connections between teachers and students and expand student's knowledge where they depend on themselves to take the owner ship of their own learning process.
PBL (Project Based-Learning): Students engage in extended and elaborated , real-world projects that require critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills (where they use more than 1 subject + the skills of 21st century).
Blended Learning: A combination of traditional face-to-face teaching and online learning platforms are used to enhance flexibility and personalization of the learning process.
Mind Mapping and Brain Storming : Visual representations of concepts and ideas that help students re-organize information and improve comprehension and memory. (can be done using collaborative online tools as well)
Gamification: Incorporating game elements and mechanics into the learning experience to increase students' engagement , collaboration, communication and motivation .
Cooperative Learning: Students work together in small groups or in pairs to teach and learn from each other, promoting teamwork , collaboration and communication skills among students.
Active Learning: The aim is building connections between prior knowledge and new experiences and concepts (As constructive theory) by using hands on activities , projects and PBLs to promotes promote knowledge construction
Whole Brain Strategy: to engage all students using various techniques to engage all parts of the brain in learning, such as scaffolding , using gestures and intonation, and incorporating games and rewards
I believe that teaching is a talent; I feel that I belong to this career where I am eager to make a difference in my student’s critical skills, behavior, knowledge, social skills and humanism, hence, preparing them to real life. Thus, I can grow people’s thoughts deeply by imparting my information and knowledge to them.
