Incomplete: Course structure and technologies do not yet mitigate digital divide & technology access issues.
Aligned: Course structure and activities mitigate digital divide & technology access issues (a) by clarifying how required technologies support learning, and (b) by providing alternative pathways to complete course activities if students face barriers.
Exemplary: Technologies are used in ways that amplify student voices and foster an inclusive course community.
E1 is similar to A14: Technology Support
There are several ways to put E1 into practice. Here are a few ideas:
Liquid Syllabus: Develop a liquid syllabus that students can access from their mobile device. The liquid syllabus can include links to free technologies and clear and concise instructions for students who need technology support. Tell students why you are using the technologies you have selected, and if there are parts of the course that can be completed on a mobile device, share that information with students.
Adaptable Assignments: Design assignments that are flexible in terms of the technologies being used. So instead of requiring a video discussion, for example, you might consider allowing students to submit in whatever format that they are most comfortable with. (text, image, video, infographic, audio recording, etc.) With a supportive learning community, they'll likely come around to trying a video submission next time.

Below are examples of this section of the CVC Rubric in practice.
Many Mesa colleagues use a liquid syllabus to provide information to students outside of Canvas, which they may not have access to until the first day of class.
