Formal Monthly Meetings
Our branch holds regular monthly meetings in accordance with Country Women's Association of NSW procedures. The meeting has a formal agenda, with meeting minutes and agenda issued by email. Meetings are scheduled for the second Monday each month at 6pm at the Guide Hut in Donkin Avenue, Moss Vale. We end our meeting with a cuppa, lots of chatter and laughter - friendship and fellowship are what we are about.
Please note the meeting time and location may change depending on branch activities. We endeavour to be flexible with our arrangements - always giving members plenty of notice of any changes.
Friendship get togethers - members enjoy chatting, catching up and solving the problems of the world. Some bring along knitting, crocheting or sewing to work on however we are happy to sit and talk to our friends, enjoying time together - getting to know each other better - the reason for our Friendship get togethers. Sitting in a yarning circle , sharing stories and talking about our local community developments. We usually start around 11.00 and finish around 1.00 (daytime) and the evening time frame -6.00 pm to 8.00 pm at our home base of the Guide Hut, 3 Donkin Avenue, Moss Vale. In winter our evening sessions move to Sunday afternoon for a more pleasant journey and time away from home.
If you are interested in coming along to check us and our activities out? We suggest you try one of our Friendship meetings as a first step. We welcome new friends, and make them feel at ease. We feel attending a formal meeting as a first step could be a little overwhelming. You will be surprised at what we do, have done, and plan to do. We are happy, however, for new friends to attend any of our functions.
We make items for families and children in hospital, collect books and toys, we sew and knit for injured wild life and support a wide range of other causes . We encourage members to do what they are most interested in, while enjoying the friendship of our members sometimes too, learning new skills too. We encourage our members to play the team game as the best way to enjoy our CWA branch.
Other Events - International Women's Day breakfast. We visit places of interest as far afield as Goulburn, and closer to home in Bowral. We enjoy having High Teas, often to find an excuse to go out for a coffee together. We are enjoying yarn bombing the London Plane trees in Leighton Gardens each year - the wraps require quite an amount of maintenance, including washing and replacement of damaged and soiled sections.
We like to be involved with our local community on special days like Australia Day, Anzac Day, Remembrance Day, Moss Vale Show, our three local schools and help to raise awareness of domestic violence as part of enhancing community cohesion in our great Moss Vale community.
We fundraise by holding street stalls and catering for our local community. We support the Share the Dignity appeals for homeless women and enjoy preparing Christmas Hampers for the residents of Rosnel Hostel at Bundanoon.
