Cyprus

The hot climate, hot emotions and absorbing design tasks resulted in the following:

# new international friendships

# consolidation of language skills

# openness to other cultures and differences

# sensitization to the needs of people from various groups requiring multidimensional support

Being present in Limassol, Nicosia, Trodos and Omodos is an invaluable lesson in religious and racial tolerance and in drawing attention to issues that cannot be ignored lest stereotypes and false views become commonplace. A visit to the checkpoint in the only still divided capital in Europe and talks with people expelled from the Turkish-occupied part of Cyprus made us aware of the situation of the inhabitants of this country. A visit to a refugee camp, getting acquainted with the history of its inhabitants, an interview with a young man forced to leave his country due to the threat to his life for meeting a person of a different psychosexual orientation made everyone feel a tear in their eyes, and at the same time each of us felt importance of the essence of humanitarian aid. All these impressions, knowledge and new skills are an invaluable value in participating in international projects. This one will also remain in the hearts and minds of over 130 participants from six partner countries forever.
