Google has acquired Cameyo, a software virtualisation company, to enhance chromeOS capabilities.
Cameyo specialises in Virtual App Delivery (VAD), allowing Windows apps to run on devices without a full Windows installation.
This acquisition will enable ChromeOS to better support legacy Windows applications, expanding its appeal and versatility for users.

Simplified application deployment: Virtualized applications can be quickly and easily deployed across an organisation, regardless of device or location.
Enhanced security: Both ChromeOS and Cameyo prioritise security, providing robust protection for sensitive data and systems.
Improved productivity: Employees can seamlessly access the applications they need, without compatibility issues or the need to navigate virtual desktops. File sharing, copy/paste, etc. all work across native web apps and those delivered via VAD.
Reduced IT costs: Streamlining application management and reducing infrastructure requirements translates to significant cost savings.
Bottom line is the chromeOS software is built on a much better architecture and its growing versatility is already outstanding.
Historically Windows was the only option for some users as their daily requirements were tied to different software products from Microsoft and 3rd parties - thankfully this is no longer the case.
When comparing hardware requirements for carrying out a given task you will probably have to buy more Windows processing power just to your {less demanding} job done due to the overhead of running Windows itself, whereas now you will find that a chromeOS device can do a better job, with less processing and memory requirements, and not forgetting that they come in at a much lower price point.
