• Juliana delivered an invited talk titled “Quantum simulations of materials for renewable and sustainable energy” at the Future WiNS: New Energies for a Sustainable World conference, which took place at the Erwin Schroedinger-Zentrum, in Berlin, Germany (December 2022).

• The Morbec group has been awarded substantial computing time on Cirrus and Sulis HPC facilities for the study of materials for thermoelectric and photovoltaic applications (December 2022).

• Juliana has been assigned as theme leader for Materials Science and Renewable Energy in the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences (November 2022).

• Juliana delivered an talk titled “Designing materials for photoelectrochemical water splitting”, 1-day Workshop on Materials for Sustainability, Keele, UK (September 2022).

• The first edition of the Workshop on Materials for Sustainability at Keele University, organized by Dr. Juliana Morbec and Dr. Nilanthy Balakrishnan, was a success. There were many interesting talks and insightful discussions (September 2022)

• Juliana delivered an invited talk titled “Quantum Simulations of Materials for Renewable and Sustainable Energy” at the CCP9 Conference & Community Meeting held in Manchester, UK (September 2022). 

• Dr Juliana Morbec, Prof Peter Kratzer and Dr Nilanthy Balakrishnan are organizing a Focus Collection on “Mixed-Dimensional van der Waals Heterostructures Based on 2D Materials” for the IOP Electronic Structure Journal (August 2022). 

• Juliana Morbec, together with Peter Kratzer and Nilanthy Balakrishnan, organized the mini-colloquium “Van der Waals heterostructures: combining organic molecules and 2D materials” as part of the CMD29 conference, which took place from 21-26 August 2022 in Manchester, UK (August 2022).

• Juliana delivered an talk titled “Organic molecules meet transition metal dichalcogenides for solar energy conversion”, at the CMD29 conference, Manchester, UK (August 2022)

• Something to celebrate! Juliana has just received her badge and certificate from AdvanceHE for the completition of Aurora 2022, an Advance HE’s leadership development initiative for women (August 2022)

• Our project “Organic /2D van der Waals heterostructures for photovoltaic applications” has successfully secured 2,116,800 Corehs on the 2 Cirrus Supercomputer as part of the EPSRC Access to HPC Call Autumn 2021 (April 2022)
