Our research focuses on developing efficient and versatile catalytic methodologies for the synthesis of medicinally relevant molecular scaffolds. By employing transition-metal catalysis, organocatalysis, and biocatalysis, we aim to establish new synthetic transformations and apply them to the preparation of biologically active compounds. These synthetic approaches are further integrated with biological evaluation to explore their potential applications in drug discovery.
Catalysis enables chemical transformations by providing alternative reaction pathways with lower activation energy barriers. Through the stabilization of transition states and the formation of reactive intermediates, catalysts can facilitate challenging chemical transformations and enable new modes of reactivity and selectivity. By leveraging these catalytic properties, we aim to overcome the limitations of conventional synthetic methods and expand the range of molecular structures that can be synthesized.
