Moonhee Kim

Moonhee Kim is a ceramic artist based in Atlanta, Georgia. Originally from South Korea, she received her BFA and MFA in Ceramics from Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul.

Working primarily with porcelain and clay, Kim creates sculptural vessels and ceramic forms that explore the subtle relationship between sameness and difference. Inspired by nature, memory, and human connection, her work reflects the beauty found in both individuality and coexistence.

Through carving, layering, and repeated firing processes, she develops surfaces and forms that evoke traces of growth, movement, and transformation. Her work invites viewers to reflect on the spaces that exist between connection and separation, familiarity and change.

Kim has taught ceramics in both Korea and the United States and is the founder of Moonhee Ceramics Studio in Georgia. Her work has been exhibited internationally in Korea, the United Kingdom, New York,Austria, and the United States.

Statement

My work explores the space between sameness and difference. Through repeated forms, organic structures, and hand-carved surfaces, I investigate how individual identities coexist within larger systems of connection. Each piece reflects a balance between unity and variation, inviting contemplation of the relationships that shape our lives and our natural world.
