This medium provides visitors with information about the High Court of Justice/ Registry on Montserrat. It also serves as an interface for accessing information on the procedures and daily activities at the High Court /Registry of Montserrat.

The Court plays an essential role in upholding the rule of law, interpreting legislation, resolving disputes and protecting rights of citizens among other functions. The civil and criminal jurisdictions of the High Court provide opportunities for parties to be heard by impartial judges and/or jury. This process ensures that all cases are decided in a fair and consistent manner.

Functions of the Court Registry

Records births, deaths and marriages
Makes relevant information available for court users
Collects and accounts for all fees and fines received by the Courts
Provides support to the Justices of Appeal and High Court Judges
Lists cases for hearing
Keeps a record of all events which take place during the course of a trial
Receives and processes applications for grant of Probate and Administration of intestate estates
Manages resources required for effective functioning of the courts
Registers Deeds and Bills of Sale
Keeps a record of Legal and Medical practitioners

Certified Copy of a Birth Certificate is processed within 2 working day ($10 postage Stamps);
Certified Copy of a Death Certificate is processed within 2 working days ($50 postage Stamps);
Certified Copy of a Marriages Certificate is processed within 2 working days ($50 postage Stamps);
Non- Marriage Certificates are processed within 2 working days at a cost of $25 Cash;
Certified Copies of other documents are processed within 2 working days ($5.50 postage Stamps).
