Some typographers claim that the first designs of Engravers MT came from America rather than from one of these European foundries: Stephenson Blake and Co., Bauer, or Schelter & Giesecke. It's difficult to be sure which design could be called the original, but this face, introduced in 1924, is Monotype's contender to that claim. The metal version was available in one size only: 6 points. Even so, the font's very thin hairlines printed clearly, a tribute to the engraver's art. If you use Engravers MT in small sizes, watch that your printer's resolution can similarly preserve the hairlines and sharpness most loved in the original design.
And yet, this kind of letter is largely, if not entirely, absent from digital fonts. In making a digitization of Engravers, I wanted to include a shaded version and in so doing start to explore this style of letter and why, perhaps, it has fallen out of fashion in the digital era.

The second problem I ran into is the look of the font. In creating the shaded version I did a very literal interpretation of what I saw in the catalogue. Sections of the letter were cut out and filled in with a bunch of uniform parallel diagonal lines, so in my digitization I did just that. Except, computers and analog printing are very different technologies, and as discussed in my Tiffany Gothic revival, what works for one cannot always be literally translated to the other. In the case of Tiffany Gothic the sharp serif points had to be cut off to avoid a dazzling effect. In the case of Engravers there is a natural warmth that comes from the irregularities innate to analog printing. Stripped of the slight variations in line width and direction these letters feel cold, and less like a throwback to metal printing and more like something new and digital.

This is a digital font based off of the *Engravers* typeface offered by the American Type Founders. These letters first appeared in Barnhart Brothers & Spindler Type Foundry which was later bought by ATF, where they were refined by prolific designer Morris Fuller Benton. As the tutorial siads in the description "TrueType fonts are .ttf font files". Also when your adding fonts to the Add Fonts window it tells you if they are TrueType or not. Look at Step 3, the 3rd image.
and i dont know if this works for anyone else but for simplicity since when i get fonts i get a lot i save it to desktop, where i have a copy of my fonts folder, and just drag and drop after i have unzipped the font file. it installs like that, not much simplier but for those who didnt understand the first way, or use massive amounts of fonts that might be a bit easier.
I'm using a truetype font called LetteroMatic that refuses to work for Paint.net. I've followed the tutorial. I'm using the latest version of Paint.Net. I'm tired of having to switch to gimp to finish my comic.
