Monomoy WritesHistoryAnother one of the oldest capitals in America, Annapolis, is often time referred to as the "Athens of America." It gets this name due to its rich cultural activities, glittering social seasons, and hospitality. During the signing of the Treaty of Paris that ended the Revolutionary War (1775-1783) was signed there, Annapolis was the capital of the United States at the time.
Why Annapolis?The reason Annapolis was chosen to be the capital of colonial and modern Maryland was because of its thriving ports and strong maritime industry.
