Monolithic Labs ("we", "us", or "our") operates the MonoNotes mobile application (the "Service"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data.
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Service to you. This may include device information (such as device model, operating system version), advertising identifiers, and app usage data.
If you use MonoNotes as a guest without creating an account, your notes and related data are stored locally on your device's internal storage. We do not access, transmit, or store this local data on our servers.
To use our cross-device synchronization features (MonoNotes Pro), you must create an account. When you register, we may ask you to provide certain personally identifiable information, including:
Email address
Password (securely hashed and managed by our authentication provider)
Your User-Generated Content (the notes you choose to sync)
We use a highly secure third-party backend, Supabase, to handle authentication and secure database storage. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
To provide advanced note-taking features, MonoNotes may request access to certain sensitive device capabilities. This includes:
Camera & Photo Gallery: To allow you to take photos or select images to attach to your notes.
Microphone: To enable you to record voice notes directly within the app.
Files & Local Storage: To allow you to attach files, such as PDFs, to your notes.
How we handle this data: We only access your device's camera, microphone, or gallery when you actively use these specific features within the note editor. We do NOT access them in the background. Any photos, voice recordings, or files you attach are treated as your User-Generated Content. If you use cloud sync, this media is securely uploaded to our database strictly for the purpose of syncing your notes across devices. We do not use your media or files for any other purposes.
If you use the PIN/Lock feature to protect specific notes, this PIN is stored strictly locally on your device's secure environment. We do not transmit, collect, or store your PIN on our servers or databases. Please note: Because we do not store this PIN, if you forget or lose your PIN, we have absolutely no technical ability to recover, reset, or unlock these encrypted notes for you. You are solely responsible for remembering your PIN.
To provide a fully functioning, free, and premium experience, we use third-party services that may collect information used to identify you.
We use RevenueCat to manage our in-app purchases and subscriptions. When you make a purchase, RevenueCat may process an anonymous User ID and purchase history to unlock premium features (MonoNotes Pro). We do not collect or store your payment details (e.g., credit card numbers); this is securely handled directly by Google Play / Apple App Store.
We display advertisements in the free version of MonoNotes. We use third-party advertising networks (e.g., Google AdMob) that may use advertising identifiers (like Google Advertising ID or Apple IDFA) and cookies to serve ads that are relevant to your interests, track ad performance, and infer your general location or device type.
We may use third-party services (such as generic analytics or error tracking tools relevant to our development framework) to understand app usage, monitor app stability, and improve performance.

We retain your personal data only for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. If you request to delete your account, your data will be permanently removed from our active databases.
The security of your data is important to us. Your synchronized notes and passwords are encrypted and transmitted securely. However, remember that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You have the right to access, update, or delete the information we have on you, as well as the right to object to or restrict processing. To exercise these rights, please contact us.
Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
You have the full right to delete your account and all associated data at any time. You can typically do this from within the MonoNotes app settings. If you delete your account, your email and cloud-synchronized notes will be permanently removed from our Supabase database. You can also request data deletion by contacting us directly.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
