These policies are designed to ensure a safe, respectful, and celebratory event honoring our townβs 250th Anniversary. All participantsβincluding youth groups, bicycles, golf carts, and classic carsβmust comply.
This is a family-friendly, non-political historical celebration.
All entries must align with the 250th Anniversary theme (history, heritage, community, civic pride).
Parade officials, police, and fire personnel have final authority on safety decisions.
Failure to follow rules may result in removal from the parade.
Construction & Size
Maximum height: 12 feet
Maximum width: 10 feet
Maximum length: 45 feet total (vehicle + float)
Decorations must be securely fastened (no loose parts)
No sharp edges, exposed nails, or unstable platforms
Riders & Safety
Riders must remain seated or standing securely at all times
No climbing, jumping, or dismounting while moving
Handrails required for standing riders
Children must be supervised by adults
Minimum 2 adult walkers/spotters per float (one on each side)
Adult supervision required at a ratio of 1 adult per 10 youth (minimum)
Youth must remain within assigned formation
No running into the crowd
Candy and giveaways must be handed out by adult walkers only
Youth participants should wear matching shirts or identifiers
Helmets required for riders under 18 (recommended for all)
Bicycles must be in good working condition (brakes functional)
Riders must maintain slow parade pace and safe spacing
No tricks, racing, or weaving
Decorations must not interfere with steering, braking, or visibility
Drivers must be licensed
Golf carts must be street-legal or approved by organizers
Maximum speed: Walking pace only
No sudden stops or turns
Passengers must remain seated at all times
No children driving golf carts
Decorations must not block headlights or driver visibility
Vehicles must arrive clean and parade-ready
Drivers must be licensed and insured
No revving engines, burnouts, or sudden acceleration
Maintain a safe distance from walkers and spectators
Candy and giveaways must be distributed by walkers only
Convertibles: riders must remain seatedβno standing
Throwing items is prohibited
Items must be handed directly to spectators by walkers
No hard, heavy, or sharp objects
Candy must be individually wrapped
Music volume must remain reasonable and family-friendly
No offensive language, imagery, or gestures
Costumes are encouraged but must not restrict vision or movement
Historical costumes should be respectful and appropriate
No alcohol, drugs, or smoking/vaping
No open flames, fireworks, or pyrotechnics
No political messages or campaigning
No animals unless pre-approved and properly controlled
All participants must arrive by the assigned check-in time
Late arrivals may forfeit their position or be denied entry
Parade order is final
Follow all staging and lineup instructions
Proof of insurance required for all motorized vehicles
Signed waivers required for drivers and group leaders
Parade committee reserves the right to inspect entries
