Kenia is a postdoctoral researcher in the Psychology Department at Marquette University. She received her PhD in Psychology with a concentration in Developmental Psychology from the University of Denver. Kenia’s research interest broadly focuses on how resilience and stressors in the prenatal environment might influence executive functioning and health among the Latine population. She is particularly interested in examining the biological and behavioral pathways while also understanding the role neighborhood factors have on health and development. Outside of the lab, Kenia loves to play video games, watch the sunset, and explore Milwaukee with her family.  

Ale is a doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology program at Marquette University. Prior to joining the lab, her experiences include working on a pediatric neuroimaging study exploring neurobiological predictors of PTSD risk and resilience, and early elementary education. Ale’s research interests lie in understanding how stress affects psychological and physiological development within the context of existing health inequities. Ale is native to El Salvador but currently lives in Milwaukee with her husband and cat. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, long-distance running, and drinking coffee alongside a good book. 

Mia received her B.A. from Lawrence University with majors in Neuroscience & Ethnic Studies and a minor in Biology. She is interested in researching how the experiences of marginalized women during pregnancy create long-term impacts on the mental health and neuroendocrine systems of mothers and their children. Following her time at Marquette, she plans to work towards a PhD in Developmental Psychology. Outside of the lab she enjoys designing her own press on nails, puzzles, playing with her nephew, and re-watching movies with her cat, Mango.  

Key is a senior at Marquette University majoring in Psychology with a minor in Chemistry and Biological Sciences on the Pre-Med track. In this lab, he is compiling medical records on infant data to understand how medical mistrust and other stressors impact patients. He plans to pursue a career in the medical field, hoping to apply what he's learned at Marquette to his future career. In his free time, he enjoys reading (a recent development); otherwise video games, cozy nights in and occasional Milwaukee outings are the ways to his heart.

Carolina is a senior majoring in Biological Sciences on the pre-med track at Marquette University. Her research interests center on how social determinants of health, including racism, stress, and access to care, influence birth outcomes and early infant development, particularly within underserved and Latine communities. She plans to pursue a career in medicine where she can use everything she's learned in the lab and at Marquette to help address health inequities. Outside the lab, Carolina loves exploring new coffee shops with friends, cooking, and listening to music.

Jordan is a senior Medical Laboratory Science major with a minor in Mental Health Applications. She is on a pre-med track with aspirations to become a Maternal Fetal Medicine doctor. Her research interests involve how events during the prenatal and perinatal period relate to pregnancy outcomes in black mothers. Outside of the lab, she enjoys long walks at the lake, trying new restaurants, and playing video games 

Reva is a junior at the University of Georgia on the pre-med track, majoring in Finance with minors in Chemistry, Applied Biotechnology, and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Her research interests include investigating how maternal psychological factors, such as stress and adversity, influence infant development and early health outcomes, particularly in underserved communities. She hopes to apply the skills and knowledge she gains in the lab to a future career in medicine, using research to help improve healthcare access and equity. Outside of the lab, Reva enjoys cars, hiking, traveling, and exploring new restaurants in her free time.

Gaby is a rising junior majoring in Psychology, double-minoring in Spanish for the Health Professions and Creative Writing. Her research interests include looking at mental health disparities in underrepresented communities (i.e, Hispanic and African American communities), specifically how medical mistrust plays a role in mental health outcomes and how it prevents people from seeking help. She plans to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology to become a Clinical Psychologist. Outside of work/school, she loves to play video games, spend time with loved ones, and allocate time to her personal projects.

Ale is a rising senior at Marquette studying Psychology with minors in Social Welfare & Justice, Spanish Literature, Language, and Culture. After her time at Marquette she plans to gain more experience working with youth and in mental health before applying to grad school, in the hopes of becoming a child therapist. Ale also does her own gel nails as a fun hobby and to clear her mind after a stressful day.

Jeylan is a rising sophomore at Marquette majoring in Biomedical Sciences on the pre-med track. Her research interests focus on understanding the barriers immigrant and refugee women face in accessing maternal and reproductive healthcare, and the effect of those barriers. In the future, she hopes to become a physician. Outside of school and research, she loves exploring new cafés, trying different matcha' and coffees, binge-watching TV shows, and testing out new makeup products.

Diego is an incoming freshman at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and plans to major in Neuroscience. He is interested in becoming a researcher and working with either people with disabilities or working with neurological disorders. Outside of research, Diego enjoys spending time with family and friends and going on runs. 

Tanvi is a rising senior in high school. She is interested in researching how cultural stressors affect individuals neurologically and behaviorally. After high school, she plans on attending university while studying on the pre-med track. Outside of the lab, Tanvi enjoys drawing, hiking, and watching new TV shows.
