The Cultural Perinatal Mental Health Lab conducts culturally grounded, community-engaged research focused on perinatal mental health among Latino birthing people and families in the Milwaukee area. The lab examines how sociocultural stressors, biology, and lived experiences shape parent and child outcomes, with the goal of reducing perinatal mental health disparities and improving equitable care.
Lab members presented two oral talks and a poster presentation on their work in prenatal impacts on infant development at their first international conference in Panama City, Panama for ICIS 2026.
Student RAs recently ran a Maternal Mental Health table at the St. Adalbert Health Fair to share the lab's research and give information on the importance of maternal mental health among Latinas.
