Communication and collaboration are the most important aspects in people's social and academic life as they enhance the development of personal growth and high order thinking, Although this terms are always used together, we mostly mistaken them to be the same or mean the same, but they do not.
Communication
Communication refers to how people connect with each other either through conversations or discussions and the main aspects achieved by it is that people get to share knowledge and information among each other and now that we are in the world where technology is dominating the masses, communication is no longer happening through discussions and conversation conducted through physical contacts only, it is now taking place even through calls, social media platforms or even through emails.
Collaboration
Collaboration is when two or more people work together to complete a task or achieve a goal (Webster,2023). it is when people align their work and behavior to accomplish something ,although collaboration is a term on its own, it cannot happen without communication as people cannot work together without sharing their thoughts, experiences and ideas. Communication needs to exist across some key features before collaboration can begin to thrive (Carter,2018).
Importance of Collaborative communication in organization context:
It promotes problem-solving.
It drives innovation.
It breaks down challenges and struggles.
Encourages knowledge sharing.
Boosts team members happiness.
Importance of Communication and collaboration skills in Education:
Enable students to identify opportunities.
Allow students to identify and get knowledge and benefitting information from peers or educators which can improve their academic performance.
Enable students to create solutions.
Ways educators ca implement collaborative communication in classrooms:
Encourage teamwork among students.
Conduct most activities through groupwork
Give members of the groups different roles.
Give each groups their own task. and judge based on each group's given task ( do not compare groups with each other).
