To 'Evaluate' in this context means that you are given an equation and you are analyzing it and extracting information from it, proving it right, etc... but the bottom line is: the equation is already given to you which models a real-life phenomenon. In the context of the image below, when the equation is already given to you, it means the machine is already given you! Therefore, an equation is a machine!
