Redbridge International Academy
An International school located in the peaceful location of Bangalore near a village called Koppa which is about 25kms from the city railways station and bus station. Spreading over 13 acres of lush green land with well-protected biodiversity. Redbridge International Academy has state-of-the-art infrastructure, a beautiful 13-acre school campus, a biodiversity park, a combination of wide-open spaces, abstract designs on colorful walls, well-ventilated classrooms with smart boards, and fully equipped science labs.
According to the norms of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), a teacher trainee have to complete an internship in a secondary school for a period of 4 months. The norms also state that to complete the internship successfully an intern must observe 30 classes mentor teacher in respective classes, 30 lessons to be transacted by intern under mentor's supervision, provide a recorded lesson transaction along with approved lesson plans and reports.
I got an opportunity to complete my internship at Redbridge International School as a mathematics trainee teacher for grade 7 and 10 ICSE, grade 11 and 12 IBDP. The coordinator at Redbridge Ms. Karen was very helpful and provided an opportunity to teach computer science to primary grades 3 and 4. The internship started on January 4th, 2021, and ended on April 17th, 2021.
The additional exposure to witness, learn and participate in registering, planning, conducting. and mailing the examination materials of IGCSE grade 10 to Cambridge London with the center examination officer Ms. Gracy Samuel has been a great learning experience.
The prior knowledge of technology and the curiosity to learn and practice tools helped me to transact mathematics both online and offline simultaneously in this pandemic. The Parent Teachers Meetings, the staff meetings, the roles, and duties of individuals to conduct an activity and broadcasting the same were some highlights of the internship period. I was allowed to transact lessons by STEM approach, which has been a wonderful experience and the proof of my curiosity to test the effectiveness of STEM approaches in teaching.
I am extremely thankful to Mr. Christopher Browne the principal of Redbridge International Academy, who had been a constant support and for always providing required suggestions and solutions from his immense experience in school administration.
