Moez Kassam

A philanthropist, venture capitalist, entrepreneur and hedge fund manager, Moez Kassam serves as the Chief Investment Officer at Anson Funds, which he co-founded in 2007.

Kassam is one of the primary managers of Anson Funds’ total assets under management, which is estimated at $1.5 billion. An alternative asset management company, Anson Funds has three investment strategies: classic shorts, value longs and opportunistic investments. Those strategies shape the firm’s two biggest funds, the Anson Investments Master Fund, or AIMF, and the Anson Catalyst Fund.

Barron’s and Bloomberg both chose Anson Funds as a top-performing fund. The company has also appeared on the Top 10 Hedge Funds list from Barclay Managed Funds, which makes its selections based on annualized returns.

A recognized philanthropist and active member of his community, Moez Kassam became a member of the board of directors for the Canadian Olympic Committee foundation in June 2020, and received the 2018 Canada’s 40 Under 40 award.

Kassam volunteers with the Young Presidents Organization’s Maple Leaf Chapter as Education Officer, and serves on the boards of the Toronto Public Library Foundation, Ryerson University’s Technology Innovation Circle, and the Immigrant Access Fund.

The Moez & Marissa Kassam Foundation, named after Kassam and his wife, donates to many organizations that serve Toronto, Canada, and vulnerable populations across the world.

Moez Kassam has also donated to the University of Toronto, which used his support to hire Abdulaziz Sachedina as a distinguished visiting professor of Islamic Studies for Emmanuel College.

Moez Kassam earned an MBA from London Business School and a BA from Western University. He lives with his family in Toronto, Canada.
