For many years, I have been teaching a course on 'Relativisitic Electrodynamics' at LUMS. This is an upper level core course for undergraduate students majoring in Physics (and an elective for graduate students). The aim of this course is to introduce students to the language of tensors, to re-cast electromagnetism in this language (and show how to go back and forth), and to study the production of electromagnetic radiation.
While there are many excellent textbooks that cover these topics, I could not find one suitable at this level. Jackson's Electrodynamics is a worldwide classic, however, undergraduate students struggle with it a lot. Zangwill's Electrodynamics is much more accessible, with a whole lot of useful examples and problems, however, Zangwill primarily works with spatial vectors, and where tensors are introduced, uses quite unwieldy notation.
These notes aim to bridge this gap between Zangwill and Jackson, while working in modern units and notation.
