I want to build the Empathy Movement Training Curriculum.
1. The training starts with people taking part in several Empathy Circles as developed by Edwin Rutsch. This website is all about the Empathy Circle practice.
https://www.empathycircle.com/
2. The next Module is to take the 4 week Empathy Circle Facilitator Training.
We have that training module here.
https://www.bestempathytraining.com
3. I want to create the next training module on how to speak and listen more deeply in the Empathy Circle. It should be a 10 hour training divided into four 2.5 hour sections.
Help me create this training module, 'Speaking and Listening More Deeply in the Empathy Circle'. Create this training module.

This module is designed to bridge the gap between basic facilitator competency and mastery of the empathic exchange. It moves beyond the mechanics of "who speaks when" and focuses on the quality of the connection itself.
Module 3: Speaking and Listening More Deeply
Total Duration: 10 Hours (4 Sessions x 2.5 Hours)
Session 1: The Resonance of Active Listening
Focus: Moving from intellectual accuracy to emotional resonance.
Welcome & Connection (20 min): Opening Empathy Circle to ground the group.
The Three Layers of Listening (40 min):
Level 1: Content (What was said).
Level 2: Emotion (How they feel).
Level 3: Values/Meaning (Why it matters to them).
Exercise: The Layered Reflection (60 min): Participants practice Active Listening where they are challenged to reflect not just the words, but the underlying "felt sense" of the speaker.
The Power of the Pause (30 min): Learning to hold silence after a reflection to allow the speaker to "sink" deeper into their experience.
Session 2: Deep Speaking – Finding Your Authentic Voice
Focus: Moving from opinions and stories to direct, present-moment experience.
Check-in (15 min): Brief shares on reflections from Session 1.
The "I" Beyond the Opinion (45 min): Distinguishing between "I think" (cognitive) and "I feel/experience" (embodied).
Exercise: Tracking the Body (60 min): A practice where speakers describe their physical sensations and emotions in real-time as they share a topic, helping them stay grounded in the "now."
Vulnerability as a Bridge (30 min): Discussing the "Edge of Disclosure"—how to share deeply enough to create connection without over-sharing for the sake of shock.
Session 3: Navigating the "Empathic Gap"
Focus: Handling silence, complexity, and "stuck" moments in the circle.
The Anatomy of Silence (45 min): Understanding that silence isn't "empty" space but a fertile ground for deeper thought. Practicing "Active Silence" as a listener.
Exercise: The Nuance Challenge (75 min): Participants share complex, multi-faceted issues. The Active Listener must capture the contradictions and nuances without trying to "solve" or simplify them.
Hearing the Unsaid (30 min): Tuning into non-verbal cues—tone, pace, and breath—and how to gently reflect those back to the speaker (e.g., "I noticed your voice softened when you mentioned...").
Session 4: Integration and The Flow State
Focus: Combining deep listening and deep speaking into a seamless group experience.
The "We" Space (30 min): Exploring how a circle transforms when every member is listening at Level 3. How the group "field" supports deeper individual sharing.
Final Practicum: The Deepened Circle (90 min): A full Empathy Circle where the sole instruction is to prioritize "depth over distance."
Constraint: Reflection must focus on the "Heart of the Matter."
Closing & Curriculum Integration (30 min): Reflecting on how these skills enhance the role of a Facilitator and discussing the next steps in the training path.
Teaching Tools & Resources
Deepening Prompts: A handout of "Deepening Questions" the speaker can ask themselves (e.g., "What is the most alive part of this for me right now?").
The Active Listening Spectrum: A visual guide showing the transition from "Parroting" to "Paraphrasing" to "Resonating."
Self-Assessment Rubric: A simple checklist for participants to track their own growth in "staying with" the speaker’s emotional core.
Would you like to expand on any of the specific exercises, such as the "Layered Reflection" or the "Tracking the Body" practice?
