We offer five different types of classes:
Initial Assessment consultation with one instructor going through medical history i.e. joint pain, injuries, physical rehabilitation to create a personalised pilates aimed at reaching goals.
Private is single person with your chosen instructor
Duo two people only with one instructor in the studio at a time.
Mat sessions are for clients who are injury-free suitable for beginners and intermediate with a maximum of 4 clients in the studio another 8 in zoom.
Studio have a maximum of 4 clients, and use the mats, reformer beds, trap tables and pilates equipment. Book online here.
Information for all sessions:
All sessions are by appointment only. To book appointments please follow the link below or call 94376588. Please wear suitable clothing e.g. t-shirt, bike pants, active wear or a tracksuit, and bring a small towel to rest your head on. It is compulsory to remove your shoes and wear fresh socks in class.
Clients who attend our studio for a small group session will have two private sessions initially. During these private sessions we will take a full movement and health history (Initial Assessment) and find out what your goals are for coming to pilates. During these private sessions we will tailor a program specifically focussing on your individual movement needs.

Private consultation consists of a 1 hour session tailored to focus your needs covered in the initial assessment and progress.made through your classes in other sessions. Instructors who are available for privates are: Dr Penny Latey, Sophia Kim, Berm Suwanpakdi, Venetia Gintel, Faye O'connor.
Duo maximum two people in the studio at a time, Similar to the Private but for two people. we currently only have one instructor available for duo: Sophia Kim
Studio sessions are available as single classes, monthly passes or in blocks of ten sessions, to be used within a certain period of time. Student and pensioner discounts are available. Instructors who are available for Studio sessions are: Dr Penny Latey, Sophia Kim, Berm Suwanpakdi, Venetia Gintel, Faye O'connor.
Mat classes are suitable for anyone who is injury free. They are conducted in small groups and are graded from basic to advanced. The Basic level provides a safe introduction to Pilates and leads on to more challenging Intermediate and Advanced work. Currently, due to physical distancing guidelines, classes are kept to a maximum of 6 per class, ensuring that you will always receive the right amount of attention from your instructor. Our Mat classes can be taken face-to-face in the studio, or virtually via Zoom. Click on the bookings link to see when the classes run, or call us at the studio. Our opening hours vary by day to give a broad selection of times to match our students’ schedules. All sessions are by appointment only. Mat classes are held at regular times, but studio sessions can be booked for any time that suits the client, subject to availability.
Monday: Studio 7-11am, Back Safe Mat/Zoom 12.30pm, Studio 4:15-6:15pm
Tuesday: Studio 7-9 am, 9.30am – 12.30pm, 4-7pm
Wednesday: Studio 7-10am, Intermediate Mat/Zoom 12:30pm, Studio 4-7pm
Thursday: Studio 7am – 1pm, 4-5pm
Friday: Studio 7-10 am, General Mat/Zoom 12:30pm, Advanced Mat/Zoom 1:30-2:30pm
Saturday: Studio 8am-12pm
Sunday/Public Holidays: Closed
One on One - Privates are available from monday to saturday by Appointment
Cancellation policy
Note that we need 24 hours’ notice of cancellation or the full fee will be charged for the missed class. We do offer make up classes. Exceptions will only be made for medical emergencies.
I have been attending classes weekly at Modern Pilates in St Leonards, NSW for over five years. I enjoy classes very much. The management of the practice is very good and is user friendly. The premises are well laid out and always spotlessly clean. The equipment, stationary and mobile, is excellent and well suited for its purposes. Over the years, I have exercised under four long term instructors, all of whom were and are well trained and qualified, diligent, competent and friendly. At least one of the other students in my class has been in same class with me for all this period. I find my weekly attendance to be a happy social event as well as a good fitness operation.
I am now ninety-four years of age and find all my strenuous exercises within my competence. I would not for the world miss my weekly session at Modern Pilates.
