At Modern Pilates in Naremburn (5 mins walk from St Leonards Station), on Sydney’s North Shore, we provide a modified version of the traditional Pilates Method. Our approach was developed by our Director, Penny Latey, who is an internationally recognized Pilates teacher. This version is based on a thorough understanding of exercise science and current research into movement ability and injury. We welcome anyone of any level of experience – from the average person seeking to improve their strength and fitness to someone recovering from a severe injury or preparing for surgery.
“Change happens through movement and movement heals.”
All Levels Welcome
Our studio classes are designed to be tailored to your specific requirements. With no more than four clients assigned to a single instructor, you can be assured of the attention and expertise you need to improve. Your studio program will be designed with any particular injuries or health problems in mind and will focus your training on where you need it, whether that’s to improve your flexibility, strength, cardiovascular output, or something else.
I enjoy coming to Modern Pilates as it is such a warm, welcoming place with great teachers and classes. Every class is always enjoyable, beneficial and relaxing. I am a ballet dancer, so pilates has helped me immensely with my dancing.
I had a torn ligament in my back and was told I needed surgery. Got some advice from Penny, we focused on the muscles around the injury which protected the injury and allowed it to heal. Once healed we focused on the damaged ligament and muscle exercises and stretches. I have a better range than I would have had after surgery and no “cutting” or sling. Marvellous stuff thank you for your professionalism.
I recommend that everyone should come here. I am in my early 60’s and I have been coming to Modern Pilates for approximately 20 years. I find it helps with my posture, general well being and stress levels. As far as I am concerned I will be coming to Pilates forever.
