Modernghana.com was officially launched on August 3, 2005[1][5] in Amsterdam by Bright Owusu, a young Ghanaian[6] who saw the need to bring news closer to Ghanaians in the diaspora. It initially started as a news aggregator and later evolved to a producer of original content.[7] The news platform is also the first ever Ghanaian website that aggregated all Ghanaian local radio stations online.[8]
Agambire Agana co-established Modernghana.com, an online news portal. He spent nearly seven years as the general manager and editor-in chief of Modernghana.com. In 2012, Agana started to transform Spy Ghana into a brand that stands in direct competition with Modernghana.

The External Service unit broadcasted in six languages: French,Hausa, Arabic, Kiswahili, Portuguese and Bambara (spoken in Mali, BurkinaFaso and Senegal). These languages of broadcast at the external service, werevery strategic, each had particular target areas in Africa or beyond as theiraudience. The target areas for the Kiswahili broadcasting were Eastern andCentral Africa. At some point there were over twenty hours of Kiswahilibroadcasting weekly. The External Service put out current affairs programmesthat explained Ghana's viewpoint on burning issues affecting Africa andthe world through informative, educative and entertaining programmes. Theprogrammes also attempted to break cultural barriers and encouraged thepromotion of African unity and highlighted the African liberation struggle(Kugblenu 1975). Frempong (2008: 5) saw the presence of the External Serviceas "an important tool of Nkrumah's Government Foreign Policy".Herd and Kugblenu (1978: 126) also state that the External Service Departmentbecame "one of Africa's ambitious international radio propagandastations in keeping with Nkrumah's ambition to play a leadership role inthe Pan-African Movement". e24fc04721
