Moving on to part 2, most average modders will usually have an easy time with these things, but what about writing about it? Writing them is generally the same as rhythm with a couple more things to consider, but nevertheless this won't stop me from giving a couple scenarios around it!
(Disclaimer: This is simply my view on how to do things)
Timeline - How to write about spacing problems/suggestions
Similar struggles of how to write a post is usually in the same format:
[Problem or Suggestion] [Timestamp] [Insert Issue] [Why it is an Issue] [Example] [Suggestion/How to fix issue] [Example 2]
Nothing that changes except for the problem isn't rhythm but spacing/patterns within a mapset and if you do well with the previous format before, then this will great for you now!
Scenario 1
The bpm of the song is 120 (This is for people questioning the 1/4)
Within a section in the song, 0:30 the spacing takes an unusual route from usual.
At one point the spacing emphasis is the Melody through high spacing and the rhythm is mainly 1/2 and Drum through lower spacing because it is 1/4
Suddenly, the mapset takes a different turn and doesn't spaced out the Melody once or twice and carries on doing so everywhere else and there is nothing special within the song to call for such.
The lower spacing not only is inconsistent, it inherits and ruins a pattern that it was doing consistently throughout the map.
Now in this scenario you can easily see the mistake the mapper is doing even when considering his mapping style as he breaks it by accident because we can basically say:
Inconsistently spaced out the Melody more than usual
Spacing change directly harms the pattern they did previously
It also directly harms the spacing of the drum (Reading issues can occur, spacing is larger for the 1/4 than it needs to,etc.)
Outside of that, the mapper continuously follows the melody the same way previously
With all this evidence you have for the mapset after carefully analyzing it for yourself, you are ready to start writing a post.
[Timestamp] At 0:30
[Insert Issue] There seems to be a mistake with your spacing here. [Why it is an Issue] Your spacing was fairly consistent with the melody up until this point which causes potential reading issues with the 1/4 and your overall pattern.
Once again get straight to the point. Does this need a [Example 1]? Not really as the issue is pretty apparent and the [Why is it an Issue] explains enough for the mapper to change
So let's move on to [Suggestion/How to fix issue]
In this case, you don't really have to say much on this even if your preference is to be as descriptive as possible.
Considering in this scenario this harms a pattern that the mapper has been doing rather consistently, simply taking a timestamp from a previous pattern he done would do just fine as well as having a simple phrase of "doing something like and raising the spacing would easily fix this."
[Suggestion/How to fix issue] A simple fix is just doing something you did before like at [Example] and raising the spacing.
Now with all those elements, we have an established sentence but is what we have above Minor or Major? Considering the information that has been giving to us after analyzing the map to the fullest, it isn't Minor and completely problematic over all, so post with a [Problem Stamp]
With all that said, you can now write your first post:
{[Problem Stamp] [Timestamp] At 0:30 [Insert Issue] There seems to be a mistake with your spacing here. [Why it is an Issue] Your spacing was fairly consistent with the melody up until this point which causes potential reading issues with the 1/4 and your overall pattern.
[Suggestion/How to fix issue] A simple fix is just doing something you did before like at [Example] and raising the spacing.}
General Mod - How to write about Spacing Problems/Suggestions
With same format as before:
[Problem or Suggestion] [Timestamp] [Insert Issues] [Why they are Issues] [Example 1] [Example 2] [Example 3] [Suggestion/How to fix issue] [Example 4]
The process of making a general mod at this point is pretty self-explanatory but like previously, it is best to keep pounding that information until it eventually clicks like with all things.
Scenario 1
Throughout the entire song from 0:00 - 3:30 the map has large spacing inconsistencies throughout
The map lacks contrast in sections. Mostly everything is usually higher spaced in the intense parts/choruses, but makes little to no effect when lesser intense sections are more or less the same.
The rhythm density makes it no better along with spacing.
In this scenario, we can tell one thing about this that stands out the most, contrast. At first finding contrast issues within a map, especially around spacing, can be a bit daunting since it varies from map to map and how minor it can be included, it is still worth mentioning within a mod post if you truly believe it to be an issue.
I would say these issues are more prominent and should be brought up when even the slow parts lack in contrast so let us assume that is the case in this Scenario.
The problem is usually self-explanatory:
No Contrast.
Slow Sections/Chorus doesn't feel that much different from each other which can lead to potential issues on following the song.
With that established, you can now start writing.
[Timestamp] From 0:00 - 3:30
[Insert Issue] Throughout the map it lacks a lot of Contrast with its spacing.
[Why they are Issues] From Calm Sections to Chorus, it has a minimum difference which doesn't really feel like it is following the song as best as it could.
Whilst the problem may seem easy to see once you actually notice yourself, there is a fair chance the mapper doesn't know so having at the very least 1 or 2 examples (Can keep it short!) will help make your point stronger.
[Example 1] For example here in this section [insert timestamp] the song isn't really picking up so much than the chorus at [timestamp]. [Example 2] This can be further be seen in other timestamps as well such as the [timestamp] calm section and [timestamp] 2nd chorus.
With that done, you probably can get away with a simple solution on this as at most the main problem can be solved by just having the spacing decreased.
While you could suggest nerfing the rhythm's density and even go out of your way to do a combination of both with a picture, there is nothing wrong with going with the simple route for both you and the mapper at hand.
[Suggestion/How to fix issue] A simple solution is can be easily done by for instance [Example 4] nerf the spacing in the calm section as well as raising the spacing in the choruses at times when the song is picking up like at [timestamp]
With this in consideration, would it be considered a [Suggestion Stamp] or [Problem Stamp]? This could be tricky and that varies from map to map in this case.
Even in this case the only problematic thing about this is up to perception of these type of issues. It most certainly can improve however so leaving it as is being a [Suggestion Stamp] would not come off as pushy towards the maper and have higher chances of it being applied.
