Art in the Alley is a public art program celebrating the creative efforts of individuals of all ages. Participants are provided with a canvas and acrylic paints so they can create their works of art, which are then displayed in alleys and on building walls in McConnelsville. Program staff then weatherproof and hang the paintings in selected alleys for public viewing. All persons, especially the majority of residents who do not identify as “artists”, are invited to paint. The sole requirement is the willingness to paint a picture for the enjoyment of others. Art in the Alley is based on the beliefs that everyone can be creative and that artistic expression is primarily for the enjoyment of the artist and others.
