• The Senate voted to elect President Cosmo as an interim president until an election can be held.

• Shortly afterwards, the economy of the US totally collapsed. In response, the president put forward a $1 trillion USD stimulus plan.

• A comeback of the ancient HRP-41 virus has been reported to have made its way to the US, 16 cases reported thus far and counting...

• Acting President Cosmo is shot at by a member of a far-right militia group. The gunman is caught by police shortly thereafter. The president makes a full recovery, having only sustained one bullet wound in the right arm.

• On the day of the Presidential Election, a huge dust storm sweeps through Texas and Oklahoma, ravaging the two states.

• The Democratic candidate, Alexander Carlsson, Senator from Minnesota, is elected President of the United States, defeating Nebraska Senator Jimmy McGill and sitting president Cosmo.

• The Northern European Union, the only other remaining "true democracy" in the world, elects Franz Viklenberg as President.

• President Carlsson passes an inflation reduction bill in the Senate, which slows inflation down, but only slightly cuts the actual number.

• A member of the same militia that shot at Former President Cosmo again attempts to take the life of President Carlsson. None of the shots land on Carlsson, and the gunman is immediately detained by secret service and arrested.

• A leaked video shows Senator Nick Franken (D-MI) violently throwing a tray of cookies made by his grandmother on the ground after being offered it to give to "his little friends in the Senate".

• A virus dubbed Verphalus first discovered in South Korea enters the United States.

• The militia which attempted to assassinate Presidents Cosmo and Carlsson, now known as the New Minutemen, makes a broadcast in the city of Boston. No official transcripts of the broadcasts exist, only anecdotal recollections of certain parts.

• President Alexander Carlsson suddenly and unexpectedly resigns, making Vice President Bill Clinton the new President of the United States.
