Mock Barcelona is the 7th version of this series of conferences (Mock Santiago 2016, Mock Perth 2017, Mock Durham 2018, Mock Cordoba 2019, Mock Innsbruck 2020, and Mock La Serena 2023), which are invitation-only conferences focused on the galaxy-halo connection plus a new topic in each conference, in this case, weak gravitational lensing. The spirit of these conferences is to create a respectful and collaborative environment that promotes debate and the exchange of ideas among participants.
Mock Barcelona aims to bring together leading researchers in the galaxy-halo connection and weak gravitational lensing and key representatives from current and upcoming galaxy surveys to promote discussions and collaborations. In this meeting, we will discuss:
* The implications of the galaxy-halo connection on galaxy formation models and cosmology
* The role of galaxy and halo assembly bias on empirical galaxy-halo models (e.g., SHAM, HOD)
* Constraints from current and upcoming galaxy surveys on the galaxy-halo connection
* Alternative techniques to connect galaxy properties with dark matter haloes
* Galaxy-halo models to interpret galaxy surveys and their spatial statistics
* Complex mocks to test cosmology inference pipelines
The official registration for Mock Barcelona is now open (for the ones who have received an official invitation). You can register here: https://mockbarcelona2024.bocemtium.com/. The registration fee is 150 euros if paid before September 8th, and increases to 200 euros after September 9th. There is no cancellation fee before October 1st; however, we cannot guarantee refunds after this date. The fee covers coffee breaks and lunches.
The conference dinner will take place at Restaurant Núria on October 10th at 8 pm (https://maps.app.goo.gl/YgwsGtYjGZfGLMVSA)
