2023 STI Testing Week
CRUSH 2023
From July 10th through July 14th, 2023, CRUSH hosted the Minnesota statewide sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing week. Below are some relevant statistics and data collected from our clinic sites during STI testing week:
35 clinic sites participated in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and throughout greater Minnesota.
487 teens and young adults were tested for chlamydia and other STIs.
197 patients were new to the clinic where they were tested.
49 cases of chlamydia and 16 cases of gonorrhea were diagnosed at the event, for an overall STI positivity rate of 13.3%.
Coordinated outreach efforts were key to the success of this event. The CRUSH STI Testing Week committee developed outreach materials to promote the event including posters, radio outreach, and social media posts.
We are grateful to all of our partnering clinics, partners, and tribal entities for participating in CRUSH Statewide STI Testing Weeks. Their participation helped this year helped connect 487 young people with sexual health care.
CRUSH is grateful to the strong support we received from clinics, public health agencies, and providers who participated in this event. The STI Testing Day Planning Committee has drafted a guideline for future events that incorporates both positive and critical feedback from participating clinics. Next year’s event will expand to more clinics across the Twin Cities and encourage more targeted outreach through social media.
