Tuff

Sarah: The next one I want to look at, this one is not created by me, this is an actual Minecraft rock now. So we have some tuff. So we have a tuff cave in the side of the mountain -- it's also kind of scattered all around the surface, and if we go up, it's all around just kind of the lip of the volcano now. But one of the really cool things is you can kind of hear my footsteps on the regular stone as I'm walking around, and then listen what happens when we get into the tuff. The sound really changes.

Kim: It changes, oh wow. 

Sarah: So it's got this very, kind of like, almost like crispy, kind of crunchier sound in our cave of tuff. 

Kim: That makes sense, because tuff is also a volcanic rock, but it has a lot of bubbles in it. So it's one of those rock names that has kind of a funny, you know, it says it's tuff, but it's actually really not tough, so it's something that you can actually kind of crush with your hands, so it's like calling somebody, I don't know, short when they're actually tall, and it's sort of a funny thing. But, yeah tuff is a volcanic rock, it's usually light colored, so that is a perfect color for it. I actually just went to Greece, so I saw some of the tuff caves in Santorini, so I'm really glad that you have that in there. That's not me, but I was able to see some of that myself.

Sarah: Yeah, that our friend Veronica again, if any of our friends are wondering. 

Kim: Oh, okay. 

Sarah: Yeah, and how is tuff made? Where does it come from? 

Kim: So it's also an extrusive volcanic rock, but instead of flowing out of our volcano, it is actually shot out because there's so much gas and bubbles and and air in it. So it doesn't like to just roll out it, likes to fly out of our volcano a little bit more.
