Background

The sanctuary in St John's is currently undergoing a 6 week redecoration - the first major work in the church since around 1985.

The aims of the project are:

a) To improve the lectern, altar and presidential chair to support the liturgy of the Mass.

b) To enrich and beautify the sanctuary both to fortify the liturgies and to enhance the heritage of the building.

As with any project involving skilled tradespeople, using the correct materials, on a Grade II listed building, there is a significant cost. We are therefore trying to raise funds to cover some of the expense.

The Friends of St John's, an independent charity (registered with HMRC), formed to support the upkeep and use of the church and its grounds, has kindly offered to help fundraise and created a campaign page on JustGiving.com which is worth a visit.

All donations are very welcome and much appreciated.
