The MMeSH project commenced in March 2023, having been funded by the Irish Environmental Protection Agency (Grant ID: 2022-NE-1142) as part of the 2022 Research Call. This project was a response to a 'call to action' by the EPA to Characterizing the relationship between soil geochemistry and biodiversity in Ireland. This topic falls within the strategic theme of Protecting and Restoring Our Natural Environment. This topic and thematic area align with international efforts and the long overdue focus on recognising and adequately protecting soil.
The MMeSH project has been initiated and has recruited PhD and MSc students. We have engaged with key stakeholders and designed sampling strategies and methodologies.
Now the team is in the field collecting samples and in the lab developing methods of analysis.
