The resident trainee is required to submit or accomplish the following for promotion:
a) An average grade of 75% for all written and oral examinations given by the Department of Family and Community Medicine.
b) Graded evaluation forms from all rotations for the current year of residency training with a passing grade of 75% (average).
Promotion to 2nd year: 5 family case reports and at least 40% of the procedures required by PAFP.
Promotion to 3rd Year: Case Report of a rare or uncommon, fully documented Medical/ Pediatric/ObGyne/Surgical case, 10 family case reports and at least 60% of the procedures required by PAFP, is required.
Promotion to 4th Year: Research Paper (either retrospective, prospective or experimental) related and applicable to the practice of Family Medicine in the local setting, at least 85% of the procedures required by PAFP and 15 family case reports.
PROBATION
A resident trainee is placed on probation for three months if at the end of his/her current year level he/she has any of the following:
1) Earned a grade less than 75% for his/her year level grade as computed by the Training Officer and approved by the Chairman of the Department of Family and Community Medicine
2) Failed to submit the required Case Report (for promotion to 2nd year) and required Research Paper (for promotion to 3rd year) on the date of the renewal interview.
A resident trainee may be evaluated by the Department Training officers and Chairperson for termination from the training program if he/she has any of the following:
1. Still earned a grade of less than 75% after 3-6 months’ probation
2. Still failed to submit the case report or research paper before the end of the probation period
3. Falsified a document (like charts, certificates)
4. Is convicted of a crime in any court of law
A resident trainee is qualified to graduate from his/her residency training in Family and Community Medicine if he/ she:
1. Completed the four years PAFP Accredited Practiced Based Residency Training Program in Family and Community Medicine
2. Presented his/her case report and research paper in a proper forum
3. Completed 20 family case report 4. Submission of research paper to PAFP
5. Completion of 85% of procedures as stipulated by the PAFP residency committee
6. 1 Advocacy report
7. 1 COPC project
8. Participated in at least 1 of the 2: Interhospital Family Case Presentation or a Clinico- Pathologic Case Conference
9. Completed duty extensions for absences, tardiness, and other offenses
10. Participated in PAFP in-service exams at least twice 11. Attended at least 1 PAFP Annual or Midyear Convention
