Dr. Ana Sofia Branco dos Santos was born in 1994 in Almada, Portugal. She obtained her BSc in Applied Chemistry from FCT-NOVA in 2015 and her MSc in Bioorganic Chemistry from the same institution in 2017. She finished her PhD in 2023, under the supervision of Prof. Maria Manuel Marques and Prof. Artur Silva. Her research was focused on the synthesis of indole azaindole-base compounds, particularly using metal-catalysed reactions.
Dr. João Macara was born in 1994 in Lisbon, Portugal. He obtained his BSc in Applied Chemistry from FCT-NOVA in 2015 and her MSc in Bioorganic Chemistry from the same institution in 2017. He finished his PhD in 2023, under the supervision of Professor Maria Manuel B. Marques. His research focused on the preparation of hypervalent iodine reagents.
Diogo Lopes Poeira was born in 1993 in Beja, Portugal. He obtained his BSc in Biochemistry from FCT-NOVA in 2013 and his MSc in Bioorganic Chemistry from the same institution in 2015. His MSc thesis focused on the development of new synthetic strategies directed towards azaindoles from aminopyridines. He finished his PhD in 2020 under the supervision of Professor Maria Manuel B. Marques. His research focused on the development of novel sustainable strategies towards sulfonamide synthesis.
Daniel Alejandro Raydan was born in 1994, obtained his undergraduate 5 years degree in chemistry, which he finished (CUM LAUDE) at Simón Bolívar University in Caracas, Venezuela, in November 2016. He started his graduate studies in Organic Chemistry at the University of Copenhagen in August 2017, which he finished in September 2019 (two years Master studies). He finished his PhD in 2025 under the supervision of Professor Maria Manuel B. Marques. His research focused on the development new multimetallic synthesis of N-heterocycles.
Bruna Guerreiro was born in 2000 in Setúbal, Portugal. She obtained her BSc in Applied Chemistry from FCT-NOVA in 2021 and is currently doing her MSc in Bioorganic Chemistry at the same institution, under the supervision of Prof. Maria Manuel Marques. Her research is focused on the metal-catalyzed synthesis of (aza)indole-based compounds.
Leonardo Alexandre Pirvu was born in 2001 in Lisboa, Portugal. He obtained his BSc in Biochemistry from ULHT in 2022 and is currently doing his MSc in Bioorganic Chemistry at FCT-NOVA, under the supervision of Prof. Maria Manuel Marques. His research is related to the synthesis of pharmaceutically relevant and undiscovered heterocycles by a bimetallic approach.
