About Us
The Smart Operations and Infrastructure Laboratory (SOIL Lab) focuses on advancing resilient, data-driven, and high-performance infrastructure systems through the integration of geotechnical engineering, soil science, sensing technologies, and analytical modeling. The lab conducts applied research on geomaterials, pavement systems, and environmental geotechnics with emphasis on climate impacts, material stabilization, and long-term operational performance.
SOIL Lab leverages laboratory testing, field monitoring, remote sensing technologies, and numerical modeling to support smart infrastructure planning, condition assessment, and maintenance decision-making. Our research areas include freeze–thaw behavior of soils and pavement foundations, nontraditional stabilization additives, environmental remediation, sensor-based monitoring of soil thermal and hydraulic properties, and unmanned aerial systems for infrastructure inspection.
