National Science Foundation Grant Abstract
The Mountain Lakes Public Library Makerspace has been a partner of Build a Better Book & the University of Colorado since February 2019. Build a Better Book (BBB) has supported our Makerspace in numerous ways. BBB has showcased our student projects at Conferences, the Boulder Public Library, provided grant funding for 3d printing, and a fantastic network of professional colleagues. The ML Makerspace is one of four organizations in BBB's National Science Foundation grant: Empathy-Driven Engineering Internships for Teens: Connecting Technical Work to Social Needs
Through this grant student interns work with partners to develop accessible resources. Our primary partners are St. Joseph's School for the Blind, Sound Start Babies, See 3D, and Sunrise Senior Living. We learn universal design concepts and apply them by designing with our partners.
